Transformative Climate Justice Pathways in the US and Africa
This project aims to build equitable, long-term, cross-regional, and cross-continental partnerships between Penn State, Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the U.S., and other national and international partner institutions in the Caribbean and West Africa around the theme of transformative climate justice pathways
We are developing workshops and working groups bridging Penn State and our partner institutions focused on three topical areas: (1) Environmental Justice across the United States and Africa – sources, measurements, community/student engagement, and policy; (2) Improved prediction of weather and climate extremes for climate justice; and (3) Examining facets of justice in government and public climate responses and operationalizing transformative climate justice. This work is currently supported by the Penn State Institute of Energy and the Environment through the Inter-Institutional Program for Diversifying Research.
